poetry

the best, i used to be…

i’ve damn near killed this soul of mine.
been lost in places, unreachable.
dancing upon waters.
too far, and in between.
chilling beyond my skin.
throughout my bones.
weakened within my age.
screaming profanities.
in the most beautiful way.
yet i’ve been jaded.
and i’ve even strayed.
from what once made me feel alive.
always goes away.
carrying pieces of me.
that just couldn’t stay.
hanging on walls.
behind cold glass.
i’m only truly inspired.
by the lackluster mistakes.
of my yesteryears.
and my hope in a faith.
that i’m better than.
the best, i used to be.
